snippet: Data was collected by Delta RD Engineers in 1989. This bathymetric dataset will be used as a base component of scientific research and studies of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Single and multidimensional flow model simulations, levee stability analyses, construction plans, and biological studies are examples of projects that depend on detailed bathymetric information. This dataset was collected to better manage and understand flow and water quality dynamics. The associated data are considered DWR enterprise GIS data, which meet all appropriate requirements of the DWR Spatial Data Standards, specifically the DWR Spatial Data Standard version 3.4, dated September 14, 2022. DWR makes no warranties or guarantees — either expressed or implied — as to the completeness, accuracy, or correctness of the data. DWR neither accepts nor assumes liability arising from or for any incorrect, incomplete, or misleading subject data. Comments, problems, improvements, updates, or suggestions should be forwarded to gis@water.ca.gov.

The survey took place in 1989 using single beam echo sounder technology and was performed by Delta RD Engineers. The bathymetry points were compiled from surveys taken by Murray, Burns and Kienlen (MBK) and scanned into PDF format. These surveys are represented as cross-sections and soundings at certain stations and have approximate elevations along the levee every 5 feet (1.524 meters). These elevations were estimated using the scanned PDFs of the cross-sections and sounding graphs. The points and elevations were entered into an excel spreadsheet and compared with the original scanned PDF graphs. These elevations were then entered into GIS. This was done by creating centerlines 90 degrees off the given stations on the levees and then dividing the lines with points 1.524 meters apart. The estimated elevations from the excel spreadsheet were inputted into the bathymetry points attributes table. This process was repeated for every scanned PDF station from the MBK reports. The original field survey data were collected in NAD83 and NGVD29 datums. </SPAN></P><P><SPAN>• Horizontal Units: Feet</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>• Vertical Units: Feet</SPAN></P><P><SPAN /></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
