ArcGIS Earth
Service Description: DEMs were sourced from three surveys performed in 2015 by Towill, Inc., under contract with California Department of Water Resources Division of Engineering, Geodetic Branch. Specific surveys were for Oroville Rim Study, Prairie Creek Fault, and the Cleveland Hills Fault. While initial bare earth editing had been performed on the delivered LIDAR DEMs, subsequent inspection revealed that additional, more-complete bare earth editing was required for higher-level end uses. Consequently, in April, 2018, DWR DOE/Geodetic undertook additional bare earth editing, along with subsequent mosaicking of the three DEMs into a single seamless version. The more-refined bare earth classification included using a more aggressive automated filter of vegetation points, followed by subsequent manual editing of areas potentially important to hydraulic modeling (bridges, for example). The resulting bare earth data are considered more consistent than earlier versions of the bare earth surface. DWR makes no warranties or guarantees — either expressed or implied — as to the completeness, accuracy, or correctness of the data. DWR neither accepts nor assumes liability arising from or for any incorrect, incomplete, or misleading subject data. Service republished 3/17/2021 by DWR DOE Geomatics (J Dudas).
